Before 1862, they were to receive a cancellation "small numbers" (83 offices had no one between 3710 and 4448 of the nomenclature) and "large numbers" (156 offices had no one between 5000 and 5177.
After 1876 the stamp was used to date.

On July 22, 1958, the Order of July 17, 1958, published in the Official Journal of 18, restores the metropolitan stamps in Algeria and the Sahara, with "first day" in Algiers, Oran and Constantine.
